We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Optometrist to join our team. Details of the role are as follows:

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week. (Monday -Sunday 5 Days per week.) Fixed term contract from Mid November to Mid February.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To personally carry out eye examinations and contact lens services to a consistently high clinical standard whilst providing excellent customer service which drives profit and sales
  • Prescribe, supply, fit and adjust frames and contact lenses
  • Ensure the Opticians team completes pre screening and field tests within delegated function guidelines
  • Build relationships with patients, ensuring a detailed case history is obtained
  • Support the team to promote the department in times where sight test capacity is low
  • Offering help and advice for patients when choosing frames and lenses
  • Writing referral notices to doctors
  • Make recommendations from the testing room to increase sales of glasses, contact lenses and coatings
  • Support the Opticians Manager to ensure the clinics run efficiently 
  • Supervise under 16 and vulnerable persons dispenses
  • Understand the sales targets and key performance indicators; making suggestions where actions could improve store performance
  • Ensure all staff are kept up to date with professional matters and GOS regulations
  • Ensure patient history computer records are at the required professional standards
  • Undertaking continuing education and training (CET) 
  • Ensure that cleanliness is maintained within the testing room

Qualifications and Experience

  • GOC Qualified [Not subject to any ongoing investigations]
  • Proven experience working as an Optometrist
  • Clinical focus with commercial acumen
